Experience is an excellent teacher, which is why we have chosen to retrace the product of tradition by making this Pinot Grigio just like our ancestors used to. The structured balance blends with the copper shades creating a wine of XLence that conceals the wisdom of the past and today’s committal.
XL, a project we kicked off in the early 2000s, is our way of honoring the compendium of Pinot Grigio’s genetic heritage and the Friulian winemaking tradition.
A mutation of Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio shows an iconic purple skin. This characteristic, as shown by the wine’s intense copper color, also reflects an iconic aromatic and flavor profile when the wine ferments in maceration: the anthocyanins, tannins, and aromas present in the skin and seeds reveal the true charisma, texture, and consistency of this variety, while an élevage in oak vessels gifts the wine with a silken elegance.
Genetic identity and oenological heritage. In our ancestor’s wineries, the separation of grape skins and must happened naturally through the upward push of the carbon dioxide generated during fermentation. Aware of this experience and strong of today’s technological welfare, we revive – our way – the truest, largest expression of Pinot Grigio.
